To Those Impacted by Empowered Pleasure’s Accountability Process, This letter is to confirm that Cliff Rees and Charity Joy from Empowered Pleasure, LLC have fully participated in and completed a formal accountability process and participated in a community restorative justice process concurrently. The accountability process was initiated in February 2023 under the coaching and supervision of Miles Hurwitz. I, Kamela Love, joined as an Accountability Supervisor and Mediator in April 2024.  After two and a half years of earnest inner growth work and outer relationship repair work related to the complaints received and the incidents reported, Cliff and Charity have arrived at the stage of re-integrating with their local Portland, Oregon community at sex-positive and sacred sexuality events, first as participants only .   Throughout our journey of accountability, one of the clearest learnings has been that being in service as teachers and facilitators carries with it a much higher degree of responsibility and power than we previously realized. Not only do we have power related to our roles as teachers and facilitators, we have power based on systems outside of ourselves that convey unearned privilege. Our whiteness, economic status, education, gender, health, and many other elements of our being add to our power and privilege.  In our studies with the Right Use of Power Institute , we enhanced our learnings about how power and privilege actually change our brains, making us less empathic and increasing our belief that we are right. Because of this new understanding, we now examine our own “sense” of the right use of power more carefully from moment to moment; we are now aware how our minds play tricks on us resulting in both a sense of entitlement and confirmation bias, believing that because...

Our intention for the Q/A was to provide an educational experience centering Restorative and Transformational Justice and Community Accountability in sex positive communities. The world of sex positivity has changed dramatically since the MeToo movement, and calls for upleveling in sex positive, polyamory, sacred sexuality, kink, and ecstatic dance communities have permeated the field.
